All current stock of Powertraveller products is compatible with the Apple iPad.

Please be aware that the iPad will only "power" or "run" from the Powertraveller charger and the iPad screen will display a "not charging" message. If the iPad is locked and not being used, the battery charge level will actually increase by approximately 1% every 10 minutes.

The reason the products are not currently able to charge the iPad is due to the iPad's requirement for a 2.1amp charge. The max output of our products have is up to 1amp and this is the same for all 3rd party charging accessory manufacturers.

Powertraveller is working hard to find an alternative way for our products to charge the iPad and we'll keep you posted!

The speakers you sent have been really brilliant and I am amazed how long they last with just two AA batteries. The speakers I was using before took four AAs and lasted only a fraction of the time these ones last."

Dead car battery? We've got the power...

Introducing the startmonkey - the world's smallest "jump start" system for car batteries. In 2009, the RAC were called out a whopping 177,916 times to jumpstart cars! A flat battery was the number 1 reason they were called out for breakdown assistance during last year.

The startmonkey can restart a standard 12 volt car battery between 8 and 10 times on a full charge thanks to its High Energy Dynamic Polymer Battery and it's packed with high-tech features to give you total peace of mind. The startmonkey has 2 output channels: 1) a 12volt, 120Amp car jump start and 2) a 12volt, 100 watt max, 8Amp DC output for charging your portable gadgets.

startmonkey is easy to use. For the average car with a flat battery, firstly ensure the engine battery is 12 volts (if 5 or 24 volts - DO NOT USE with startmonkey). Check the battery capacity level in the startmonkey and then simply attach the jump leads (red to red, black to black) to your car battery and the startmonkey will automatically start delivering 120 amps of continuous power. Leave the startmonkey for 5-8 seconds, then turn the ignition on your car and your car will start.If the car fails to start, leave the startmonkey connected for between 10 and 15 minutes and then turn the ignition again.Once your car starts, the startmonkey will automatically switch off. Disconnect the startmonkey and store in case provided.

On the front of the startmonkey is a 4-segment LED array. When the startmonkey is activated, the LED array will light up GREEN to visually confirm that the startmonkey is charging the flat battery. When the startmonkey is fully charged, all 4 segments of the array will be GREEN. When it is 3/4 charged, 3 segments will be GREEN and when it is 1/2 charged, 2 segments will be GREEN. When the startmonkey only has a 1/4 charge left, the LED turns RED. It is recommended that the startmonkey is recharged when it gets to 50%.

The startmonkey has an input socket so you can recharge it via the supplied in-car charger, this will take about 4 hours to charge a startmonkey with a 50% level of charge remaining. From empty, the startmonkey will be recharged via the in-car charger in 8 hours. The startmonkey can also be recharged via the solargorilla, the AC mains charge from the powergorilla and the forthcoming silverback-gorilla. The input socket can even take voltages between 15 - 24 volts to recharge the startmonkey.

The DC output socket on the startmonkey means you can also charge your portable gadgets! Simply connect the included in-car charger socket to the DC output port, pop the included motormonkey into that and using an approved USB cable (not supplied) and tips, you can recharge your phone, iPod, PDA, handheld games consoles and more! You can even use the in-car charger socket with your 12volt in-car chargers to operate your laptop, GPS system, etc.

The startmonkey has very low static wastage - meaning you can leave it unused for up to three years and it will still hold up to 75% of its power! It can also be recharged 500 times - so if your battery is still going flat after all that time - it may be time to get a new car!

Yesterday marked a momentous occasion for Powertraveller as we were officially presented with the Queen's Award by Dame Mary Fagan, Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire and her Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Alan Titchmarsh.

Alan Titchmarsh first read the Citation and the Warrant before Dame Mary presented Powertraveller CEO, Jerry Ranger, with the glass rosebowl and Warrant.Powertraveller won the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category and were informed of the win in April this year.

In July 2009, Darby Allen, managing director of Team Momentum Ltd, travelled to Africa to help run a unique Team building exercise.

The aim of the exercise was to take 6 teenage boys (aged 14-18) from 4 countries with widely differing cultures, religious beliefs and family circumstances to work together for 4 weeks in the challenging environment of the African Bush. The exercise was designed to foster respect for cultural, religious and social differences whilst subjecting the group to a wide range of physical and mental challenges in a foreign and potentially dangerous environment.

The exercise took place in South Africa, Zambia and Kenya and was broken down into 5 phases:

Phase 1 – South Africa - Introduction to the history of South Africa, tour of the township of Victoria, visits to a number of Orphanages and schools. Tandem Skydiving.

Phase 2 – Zambia – White water rafting and 5 day kayaking along the Zambezin River, camping out each night. Emergency First Aid course.

Phase 3 – Il N’gwesi, Kenya – introduction to the poaching trade & anti poaching operations. 2 day anti poaching exercise working with the anti poaching unit.

Phase 4 – Lewa, Kenya – 5 day hike with a camel train. Each pair of boys responsible for the welfare of 8 camels. Lion and Rhino tracking

Phase 5 – Chyulu Hills, Kenya – 5 day tracking and survival course with the Massai Warriors

Phase 6 – Masai Mara, Kenya – 4 day Safari

Prior to the trip the boys were tasked with raising money for charity by getting sponsorship for the Tandem Skydive they were to complete during the first few days of the trip. The money raised was used to buy supplies that the boys then presented to a number of Orphanages and Schools.

During the exercise the boys had to complete a number of team tasks including; navigating over 50 kms in Kayaks along the Zambezi River whilst avoiding the potential dangers posed by Hippos and Crocodiles; completing 5 days of long hikes carrying their personal equipment over rough terrain; completing a 2 day anti-poaching exercise with the local anti-poaching squad; buying, slaughtering, gutting, skinning and cooking a goat for a group of Massai Warriors and completing a simulated casualty exercise resulting in the evacuation of a casualty via stretcher over 3 kms to a helicopter pick up.

The group spent most of their time on foot deep in the African Bush with no access to any form of power supply. Within the group we had 2 satellite telephones, 9 mobile telephones, 1 laptop and a variety of cameras and camcorders. With nervous parents expecting regular updates, it was important that we were able to maintain communications.

The only source of power available for the majority of the trip was the sun, a Solar Gorilla, a Power Gorilla, a power monkey eXplorer and solar monkey solar charger. With at least 12 hours of sunshine each day, the solar gorilla and solar monkey were in constant use throughout the 4 weeks. The units spent their time attached to the top of rucksacks, perched on the roof of a tent, secured to the roof of a Land Rover or tied to a Camels back!!

The units all worked perfectly throughout the trip. Their compact size, ease of use and minimal maintenance requirements made them an indispensible part of the kit list. They are robust under the most demanding conditions and most importantly look very cool!!
